Four budding ballerinas from The Music Mill recently danced in Grigorovich’s production of The Nutcracker in 3 performances with Ellen Kent Ballet International at The Princess Theatre in Torquay. The girls loved the experience of dancing on stage and the company were impressed with how well they performed.

6 pupils from The Music Mill are to take to the stage at the Princess Theatre in Torquay to dance alongside Vienna Festival Ballet company in Coppelia on April 30th. “This is a great opportunity for the girls to work with a professional dance company and put the skills they have learnt in class into practice on the stage” said Lizi Mackey (Head of dance and performing arts)

Congratulations to Bozena Bond aged 8 who successfully auditioned to gain a place as a Junior Associate of the Royal Ballet School. Bozena began dancing with Lizi at the age of 6. Since then Bozena has danced with the Vienna Festival Ballet and Ellen Kent Ballet companies in their productions of Coppelia and The Nutcracker.

Nick Clegg MP (Leader of the Liberal Democrats) visited Vibe FM, the radio station operated my The Music Mill for South Devon College. As you can see he was not alone! Torbay MP Adrian Sanders and a group of media and local politicians watched Mr Clegg being interviewed by SDC student presenter Jordan McDowell.

Congratulations to Bozena Bond who has been invited for a second year as a Junior Associate of The Royal Ballet School.

Also congratulations to Rebecca Harrison who after only dancing for a few weeks was identified by Lizi Mackey as having potential and has successfully auditioned to become a JA. The girls will continue to train with Lizi as well as fortnightly classes with The Royal Ballet School.
